I'd suggest reading a bit about acrylics on the net, but you can use the same techniques as you do for watercolors. It sounds like what you are doing with the arabic is you are basically making something very similar to acrylics, only probably still water soluble.
It just takes practice, and time to adjust just like any new medium. You look like a natural, though. If you hadn't said Blue Angel was watercolor, I would have thought it was acrylic.
